Slim Chickens - Frisco

Have y'all heard of this new place - Slim Chickens - that is being built over by Toyota Stadium? They are scheduled to open on September 19. I checked out their page/menu/etc.. and everything looks great. I decided I couldn't wait for the new location to open to get a taste of what they had to offer. Emoticon

My family and I took a mini road trip this weekend (one last time before the hectic school year begins), and we stopped at a Slim Chickens to give it a whirl.

We ordered a little bit of everything - a couple different 3&3 Plates, Smoked Cheddar Wrap, Chicken & Waffles, and dessert. [menu below]

Notes:

- The tenders were REALLY good..Fried just right!! I think they could use a little more seasoning, but that's just me.
- Sweet tea is perfect! I know it's just a drink, but I'm picky about my tea. They offer several different varieties of tea as well as Coke products.
- Chicken & waffles dish was delicious. My wife was a BIG fan. I normally don't eat chicken & waffles together, but "When in Rome.." Bonus points for the waffles being shaped like Texas.
- The wrap was scrumptrulescent! Seriously, my daughter let me try hers and I almost didn't give it back.
- Their signature sauce (Slim Sauce) is VERY good. It's like a creamy BBQ sauce. The Cayenne Ranch was also tasty, but I wanted more cayenne in it.
- Their wings were good. I ordered mine naked. They don't bread them, which is the way I like it.
-The fries were over salted, but cooked correctly. It could've just been a bad batch...It happens.
- Dessert was strawberries, cheesecake bites, pie crust, whipped cream and nuts in a mason jar........... Y U M ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Emoticon They also have a brownie version, and will rotate others in as the seasons change.
- Prices were fair in my opinion. It was around $40 for our spread.

All in all, we were extremely happy with it! Emoticon

Is this on the west side of the tollway? Near IHOP?

We like PDQ as I get the grilled tenders. I worry about them with the dinner crowd. Always seems slow but lunch is packed and weekends. I am anxious to try Slim Chicken. They have one where my son goes to college and I can get him GC to try it.

My daughter doesn't eat red meat or fish... She would do all veggies but luckily will eat chicken and some pork. She won't eat peanut butter or beans for protein.

Maybe, @Frisco95 ?! I haven't been by there to see for sure. That photo of the construction above was on the Slim Chickens/Plano FB page. I just know it's in that area.

Sounds awesome, I can't wait to check them out.
As far as tenders, you're not the only one who likes yours seasoned. I tried PDQ's tenders last week and was really disappointed that they weren't seasoned. I'm just biased but I think most places rely too heavily on their sauce instead of flavoring the chicken itself especially wings.
As the saying goes in the Bar B Que world..if you need sauce, your trying to hide something, lol

I'm more of a seasoned grilled chicken wings with a dipping sauce. Too much sauce kinda ruins them. really haven't found a really good one yet.

I saw where they are building this, it's right next to Rudy's. I also saw where they are interviewing which means they should be opening soon. I'm kinda excited about that.

I think burger joints outnumber chicken places. Typically when I think of chicken places I think of KFC, Churches or Popeyes. Chicken Wings and chicken strips are oddities to me, lol Babe's is a stand alone IMHO.

I am now looking forward to the Frisco Rail Yard and the food trucks. I think that will be interesting and different every weekend!

Looks like it's now open. Had a friend go to soft opening and said it was good, they went back this weekend!

We will give it some time to slow down then try it.. Or maybe this Friday before the game at Toyota.
