@TheStig: this is so sad. We visited this tourist area several years ago. My heart breaks for everyone there. They each have their own sad story.

We hadn't been there since 2006 but it was so green and lush. The devastation makes me sad.

@funacct : What caused the fire? Brush fires had already ignited on Maui and the island of Hawaii by Tuesday. Those fires were stoked on Wednesday by a combination of low humidity and strong mountain winds, brought by Hurricane Dora, a Category 4 storm that was moving hundreds of miles to the south across the Pacific Ocean.
