In 2012, Forbes ranked the Rough Riders as the 4th most valuable franchise in Minor League Baseball.

"The Rough Riders" name comes from the the historic 1st U.S. Volunteer Cavalry Regiment during the Spanish-American War, which was headed by the not-yet-President, Theodore Roosevelt, who is also incorporated in their team logo.
